We’d love to have you join us! We’re heavily into the ‘season’ of prepping for the AC. We’ll still doing our “Focus Chats”, and the candidates have volunteered and are beginning their own weekly chats for each exercise! It’s a busy place – but there’s a lot of prep work to do! If you join us and stick with the chats, you will be VERY well prepared for the Assessment Center!

Hi Jen, Just made this same response to freckleface, too. Not sure if this goes directly to you or not! But here’s what’s been happening…YES – something has been wrong! An upgrade to one of our servers went terribly bad. Some members were able to get onto the Forums, but most were not. Even those who were able to get onto the Forums were not able to access the Library. What a mess! THIS MORNING (Friday), though, all is well, Everything has been restored to what it was before the upgrade was attempted (LOL…they ‘undid’ the upgrade!). We’ll coast along like this until the very quiet time this summer, and then we’ll revamp the site and get away from this one server that has caused us this problem! THANK YOU for your patience! Now – back to work for this last week! Kelly M

YES – something has definitely been wrong! An upgrade to one of our servers went bad. Some members were able to get onto the Forums, but most were not. Even those who were able to get onto the Forums were not able to access the Library. What a mess! Entry 3 – for which certificate area? For EC-GEN and MC-GEN it’s Science with a Math integration – and causes many headaches, for sure! For EC/MC Literacy Entry 3 is the one that integrates speaking, listening, and viewing – a real trifecta! Whichever certificate area you are, there is help on this website! Hi Derrick,

Please check out the “Forums” page inside the website – specifically the Assessment Center section. Questions similar to this have been discussed there.

To answer your question, though, yes – of course you want to check for prior knowledge to help you then plan whatever they have asked you to plan (one goal, two activities — or whatever the AC exercise calls for). You want to give your rationale for why you are proceeding the way you are, so even if they don’t ask for prior knowledge, you might begin by saying that you would check for that. You might proceed, though (since you can’t actually check for it) by saying that in your experience most children this age are ready for _____. Another way to proceed would be to go ahead and BEGIN by saying you DID check for prior knowledge, and based on that your children were ready for ____. (Remember – at the AC there are no holes barred – you can have anything readily available that you want —- so in your case, you can have the results of your questioning for prior knowledge already available to you!) Just make it up – based on what you believe the children would be ready for!
